Serious Play

Because science is ideally objective and free from human drama, it’s easy for science writing to be similar. But a good story depends on conflict and resolution, drama and emotions. Learning to observe how our own bodies and emotions respond and behave can remind science writers to see the room instead of just the equipment, the human instead of just the researcher, the larger story surrounding the science.

This interactive weekend will introduce participants to storytelling, movement, and feedback activities that can help unleash their creativity, expand their attentiveness, and deepen their self-reflection.
